Short Breaks for Antiques Collectors & Art Lovers

We have two events organised for the Autumn and late Summer of 2011. Both of them at established venues, HAMBLETON & ROTHAY MANOR.
ROTHAY MANOR needs no introduction for those “in the know”. This holiday based in a Regency house in Ambleside, in the British Lake District features, during your near week-long stay, expeditions to the Steam Boat Museum on the shores of Windermere, as well as the privately-owned Whelprigg House not to mention talks on THE JEWELLERY OF RENE LALIQUE & THE SILVER OF GEORG JENSEN. This holiday features on the last evening of the holiday the famous quiz, which for me, the organiser, is the most exhausting part of the holiday as participants have the temerity of question my answers to the perplexing questions! www.rothaymanor.co.uk special interest.
There is little that needs to be added to the paeons of praise that have been heaped on Tim Hart’s discreetly luxurious hotel overlooking Rutland Water. Here our holiday will take us on a private visit to ALTHORP, the home of the Earl Spencer, whose art collection is still one of the richest in the county, as well as to little-known HOLDENBY and the even less-well-known ELLYS MANOR. If you want the ordinary do not stay at Hambleton... and that goes for our expeditions as well! www.hambletonhall.com.

Our programme of breaks for 2012 will be published shortly with more breaks in more places.

Hambleton is one of our most popular breaks, deservedly so, as there are few places where so much care is taken of your comfort and well-being. Our holiday this time takes us to one of Northamptonshire’s greatest houses, Althorp. This is a private visit with the magnificent house specially opened for us. Lunch will be taken at the village inn. In addition a call will be made at Holdenby, built in the reign of Elizabeth I for Sir Christopher Hatton, in anticipation of a visit from his sovereign. Finally to Burghley to learn about the plethora of paintings with their conservator, Mike Cowell. As usual plenty to see and do, as well as time to enjoy yourself in this lovely setting.

Price: From £2175 per couple, based on two people sharing a standard double room on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis, and to include all talks, expeditions (inc lunches) and travel (except Burghley) and VAT. For those wishing to join us on Monday 7th at Burghley, the cost would be £1885 per couple. Please note drinks not included.
